Hollow Knight: Silksong Is (Still) Real; New Trailer Revealed, But No Release Date

by Kristie Png

Rejoice, Hollow Knight fans! After a gruelling wait for the tiniest bit of crumbs, fans could finally feast on a new sneak peek of Hollow Knight: Silksong that featured at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase earlier this week.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the long-awaited sequel to Hollow Knight, a Metroidvania action-adventure that took place in a kingdom crawling with bugs and extensive amounts of lore. First announced in 2019, Silksong was originally billed as a DLC to the original game, but eventually grew to become a full sequel that will feature the beloved needle-wielding warrior Hornet as its protagonist as she hunts, survives, and vanquishes.

After three years of near radio silence from developers Team Cherry (barring a magazine feature in 2020), they have finally risen from the depths of Hallownest to gift Hollow Knight fans a new trailer that features a whopping 60 seconds of gameplay, which was recently unveiled at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022. It was also announced to be a day-one addition to Xbox Game Pass.

Though no release date was announced, Xbox confirmed that all the games displayed during the showcase will be coming out within the next 12 months. If anything, fervent Silksong fans can soon finally kick off their clown shoes after years of picking at scraps, and wait for it to land on Game Pass on day one at least before June 2023.

That’s not the only news to rock the internet this Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Hideo Kojima took to the stage with a new partnership with Xbox, alongside upcoming releases for Overwatch 2, and the Persona franchise, among others.
