If you’ve a knack for racing simulation games, specifically the Gran Turismo series, and want to prove your worth as the very best on the grandest of stages, you’re in luck. Starting 5 September, the Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific, a brand-new esports racing tournament, will pit avid racing gamers amongst each other for ultimate bragging rights and mouth-watering prizes.
Organised by Porsche Asia Pacific together with Porsche Japan, Porsche Korea and Porsche Taiwan, this online-only event will be played on Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4. The event will be open to participants (aged 18 and above) from Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines and New Zealand, with open qualifiers happening from 5 September through 31 October.
Participants will race in their respective country’s qualifiers, and have to rack up points across 5 qualifying rounds. Each round will require participants to race in a specific course using a specific Porsche model. Here are the qualifying races at a glance:

The top 5 racers to emerge from the qualifying rounds will book a spot in the semi-finals sometime in mid December, where they will meet the top 5 racers each from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The top 10 racers of the semi-finals will then move on to the grand finals, where the overall champion will be awarded the coveted grand prize of an all-expenses-paid Porsche weekend in Tokyo, including a visit to the Porsche Experience Centre Tokyo and more.
How to register:
Interested participants will have to own a copy of Gran Turismo Sport on their PS4 system. In the game, select [Sport Mode] and head over to the event titled “Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific”. Reception starts 15 minutes before the entry deadline.
