The coming year for Dead by Daylight is shaping up to be a wild one. The game recently streamed its sixth anniversary broadcast, an interactive livestream that allowed viewers to participate by voting, announced new chapters, collaborations, and even – to everyone’s surprise – a spin-off dating sim.
Over the course of this coming year, players can expect four new chapters to be released. Four new Killers and their Survivor counterparts are in the pipeline, as well as four Tomes in The Archives which will give players a deeper dive into characters’ lore. We also got a sneak peek into details about the latest chapter, “Roots of Dread” which will include a new map, Survivor, and Killer. This new chapter is set to be released on 7 June 2022.
Anime fans will be thrilled about the announcement of Dead by Daylight’s crossover collection with Attack on Titan. In the game’s first major crossover with an anime title, the Attack on Titan Collection will include ten outfits for Killers and Survivors, as well as “some surprises for later on”.
The developers seemed to put great care into adapting the original Attack on Titan characters for the game, such as by considering characters with similar personalities and appearances. For example, players can expect an Ultra Rare cosmetic for the Oni in the form of the Armoured Titan, using the Armoured Titan’s crystalline armour as a visual effect for the Oni’s Rage Mode.
In a wholly unexpected twist, viewers of the broadcast were introduced to Hooked On You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim. This is a spin-off game where players can romance the Killers in an interactive visual novel. Made in collaboration with Psyop, the developers behind dating sim sensation I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger-Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator, players can expect to cosy up with the Huntress, the Trapper, the Wraith, and the Spirit.
Instead of the eerie, dark atmosphere that Dead by Daylight is known for, Hooked On You will be filled with sunshine and rainbows, with cute and vibrant versions of the previously creepy Killers. We won’t need to wait long, as the dating sim is slated to be released this summer.
To end off the broadcast, Behaviour Interactive revealed a short teaser for Resident Evil “Project W”. Not much is known about this project, but we can expect more Resident Evil content to arrive soon.
With all these new announcements, there’s sure to be something to please any kind of Dead by Daylight fan.
