There were many things to be excited about at last week’s Star Wars Celebration. From Season 3 of The Mandalorian to the debut season of Ahsoka Tano on Disney+, there are many reasons for the Star Wars faithful to be excited.
TV shows weren’t the only ones to be unveiled at the event. Respawn Entertainment and EA dropped the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the long-awaited sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game will be released sometime in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Set five years after the events of the first game, the trailer shows a much more experienced Cal Cestis as he continues to evade the clutches of the Sith Empire with the aid of his trusty droid companion BD-1. While no gameplay was revealed in this trailer, we can expect the same level of quality single-player gameplay that Respawn had delivered in the first instalment.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor seems to be the second Star Wars game to be fully next-gen-exclusive, with its notable absence on the PS4 and Xbox One systems. It seems Respawn are fully focusing to capitalise on the hardware of the more recent consoles, as they should given how the PS5 and Series X|S have been out for over a year already.
The other title that is exclusively next-gen is the upcoming Knights of the Old Republic – Remake by Lucasfilm Games, which is coming out on PS5 and PC.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also one of the three new Star Wars game projects currently in development at the studio, with the others being a new FPS title, as well as a strategy game made in collaboration with Bit Reactor.
