For the average Singaporean, it’s always an exciting thing to see homegrown talent take to the grandest of stages representing your country for top honours.
Not long after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Paper Rex will be flying Singapore’s colours in the VALORANT Champions Tour Masters 3 in Berlin, Germany on 10 – 19 September. After defeating Philippines-based regional heavyweights Bren Esports 2-1 at the Southeast Asia playoffs.
The Singapore-based team endured a series of tough tests to get to the VCT Masters 3. In the SEA playoffs, they had to square off against other top teams in the region, including CBT Gaming (Taiwan), BOOM Esports (Indonesia), and the aforementioned Bren Esports (Philippines). As such, Paper Rex will be participating on behalf of the SG/MY region and, by extension, the entire SEA region.
The VCT Masters 3 marks the first time they have taken to the international stage, which naturally means this will be the biggest challenge they will face yet. In past editions of the international tournament, they came short in qualifying for the VCT Masters 2 in Reykjavik, Iceland, after being knocked out by FULL SENSE (Thailand) in the ASEA playoffs.
The Paper Rex VALORANT 5-man squad comprises of Benedict “Benkai” Tan, Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee, Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto, Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart, and Zhan “shiba” Teng Toh. The group are currently coached by Alexandre “alecks” Sallé.
